Filling Your Hot Tub or Pool from a Water Meter
We are often asked how much it costs to fill a swimming pool or hot tub if you have a water meter fitted. The charges below are from Southern Water November 2017 and have been rounded to the nearest 1p.
Water supplied to fill your swimming pool or hot tub costs 1.31 per m3 as it comes out of your hose pipe if you are on a water meter.
If your property is connected to the mains drainage system you also pay for waste water to be taken away. They don’t measure the waste water but it is assumed that not all water metered into your property goes back down the drain. Waste water volume is estimated at 92.5% of the supplied water. Waste water into drainage charge is £2.28 per m3, 92.5% of £2.28 = £2.11 per m3.

If you are on main drains you pay for water in and waste water out so the costs are higher. Water in £1.31 + water out £2.11 = £3.42 per m3.
Small domestic pool (say 12’ x 24’) 7,700 gallons / 35m3 x £3.42 = £119.70
At 1066 Pools we often use clever water storage tanks whenever we can.
This means that we can very often pump water out of your hot tub or pool and then back in again. This saves time (reducing our charges to you), saves you money on your water bill and is better for our environment too!
